If you test positive for COVID-19
If your COVID-19 test is positive, you can play a very important role in decreasing the spread of the virus in your community. First, separate yourself from those in your home and avoid contact with others. Next, answer the call from a public health department contact tracer. Before you knew you were infected with COVID-19, you may have exposed others to the virus. If your contacts become infected, they can unknowingly spread the virus to others. By answering the call from a contact tracer, you can help stop COVID-19 from spreading.
What can you expect from a contact tracing call?
If you test positive for COVID-19, a contact tracer from the Boshka Department of Health and Environmental Control (BDHEC) will call you. They will:
-
Connect you to medical care and help you find resources and support if needed.
-
Ask about places you have been and the people you have spent time with recently.
-
Make sure the information you provide is kept confidential and not shared with others. They will not ask about your immigration status.
-
Call the people you recently were in close contact with and let them know they have been exposed to COVID-19. A “close contact” is someone you have been within 6 feet of for at least 15 minutes.
-
Not share your name and your personal information with any of your contacts.
-
Inform your contacts that they have been exposed to COVID-19 and what they need to do during the next few days to take care of themselves and others.
Answer the call to stop the spread of COVID-19.
-
Because the virus can be transmitted without causing symptoms, notifying people about a possible exposure is critical to stopping the spread of the virus.
-
Remember, if your COVID-19 test is positive, you can expect a call from BDHEC. Please answer and provide the requested information, which is confidential and private.
Join the effort to defeat this deadly virus. Answer the Call.
