Medical/Surgical

Surgery

Carnswell Medical Center's Medical/Surgical Unit is the backbone of our institution. With 17 private rooms, nurses and patient care technicians are trained to care for every stage of life, from infants to geriatric cases, with a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses.  Care is also provided for surgical patients – both outpatients and inpatients – before they go into surgery and during recuperation. Cardiac telemetry monitoring is also provided for those who may need it during their stay.

Many of our nurses have had extensive training and experience in specialty areas. They use their vast skill set to make patient safety their priority, while bringing a spirit of service and compassion to patients.

Working as a team, our nurses, case manager and social worker follow patients from admission to discharge. Individual patient education and coordination of after-care are a major focus for the staff.

A Swing Bed Program is also available on the Medical/Surgical Unit for patients who need extra time to recover or who need additional therapy and care prior to discharge. Patients admitted to the Swing Bed Program remain on the Medical/Surgical Unit to receive the care they need.
