Patients + Families

Carnswell Medical Center is dedicated to providing patients with compassionate, high quality care with the most advanced technology. This Patient and Families information is provided to help answer questions you may have about our hospital, our services, or policies that may affect your stay.

If you are experiencing an emergency…

Call 911 or go directly to the Emergency Department entrance for registration and treatment.  If you are unsure of whether or not you are experiencing an emergency.

If you are registering for outpatient services…

Please bring proper identification and current health insurance documentation, if applicable. All patients will be asked to pay for a portion of their services at the time of registration.

All patients should register at patient registration in the Emergency Room lobby. Each patient will receive a computer generated identification band with patient name and other identifiers.

Surgical outpatients should arrive at the hospital a minimum of one hour before the scheduled procedure and register at patient registration in the Emergency Room lobby.

The patient’s birth date will be repeatedly requested by staff members to protect patient identity and safety.

If you are visiting a patient…

Carnswell Medical Center reserves the right of patients to choose who may or may not visit them. Restrictions to visitation outside of patient preferences are based on clinical needs and the health and safety of visitors and patients.

Carnswell Medical Center is a latex-free facility, so we ask that you refrain from bringing balloons to our patients. Gifts are a wonderful encouragement, however, and our Ladies’ Auxiliary keeps the hospital’s gift shop open from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday -Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturdays, and 12:00 p.m – 2:00 p.m. Sundays.
