Intensive Critical Care Unit
Carnswell Medical Center’s Intensive Critical Care Unit (ICCU) cares for serious or critical care patients of all ages. This includes patients on ventilators, those being monitored for cardiac conditions, post-surgical recoveries, and critically ill medical patients. The hospital has highly trained nurses to respond and care for patients whose conditions are deteriorating or patients who arrive in a code situation.
ICCU staff members work closely with cardiologists from the Carnswell Medical Group to provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date care for cardiac patients. All ICCU staff members are Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certified. ICCU staff members also offer community training to certify physicians, nurses, and EMS crews in CPR and ACLS.
In addition to being associated with some of the top physicians in the nation, Carnswell Medical Center’s ICCU is a small facility, which allows staff members to provide patients with a personalized level of care that is not possible in larger medical facilities.
Here’s what one family member had to say about her loved one’s care in our ICCU:
“My sister was admitted to Carnswell Medical Center in the ICCU on her son’s wedding day. Needless to say she would not be attending the wedding. Her nurse generously offered to help her watch the wedding via face time on her iPad. Through the shared technology we were able to connect my sister to the wedding as it took place. Family, the bride’s maids and groom’s men gave her messages of encouragement, and she got to see the entire wedding through the vows to the kiss. That nurse turned the disappointment of missing the wedding to tolerable by providing a way for her to attend.”
Our ICCU nurses have a reputation for going the extra mile to care for patients and their families.
